Formed to mainly fill an aesthetic hole in the lives of its members, Psallite is a four-part vocal group performing Early Music from the 12th Century to the 17th. Their main repertoire is drawn from English street broadsides and the tavern catches and lays, as well as the courtly madrigals of England, Italy, Spain and France. Their performances are marked by their tight harmonies, occasional instrumentation, and experiments with the traditions of the music.
They have performed to great acclaim at the National Folk Festival, Fairbridge Festival, the Southwest Music Festival in Nannup, Fairbridge and Toodyay folk festivals, as well as various functions and folk clubs.
From the courtly music of King Henry VIII to the broadsides of the street corners, from the additive chants of the monastery cloisters to the rollicking music of the catch clubs and pubs, Psallite performs very entertainingly and in their own unique style.
